Well I have really enjoyed the travelling books project so far! I have managed to keep up with it and complete samples on time. Here are some of my pages and work so far:

I have started a new project with the Embroiderer's Guild called travelling books. So far I'm loving it!
This is how it works, you create a piece of work in a sketchbook, you then pass your sketchbook on to the next person and they create a page in your book, and so on and so on. It's working really well for me as I only need to create one piece a month which is realistic with my job. It doesn't have to fit a theme and is very flexible.
I'm still focusing on similar colours to usual but trying to get a little bit out of my comfort zone one sample at a time! I am using some Keats poetry as my inspiration :) my samples don't stay with me so I'm taking photos as I go- I will try to update regularly.

Well it's been a while since the embroiderers guild north wales branch exhibition but I finally have some time to put some pictures up. It was a very successful event with so much support all weekend! It was massively busy and when I took my mum to visit there was hardly any room in th coffee shop. So I was very pleased it all went so well. It was my first exhibition so I didn't put my work up for sale as I wasn't sure there would be much interest. After this event I am eager to do more and to start selling more of my work too! My New Years resolution is to do more creative things to reduce stress so I am aiming to do more textiles work. My boyfriend has given me some ideas for a new project so watch this space. In the mean time here are some pictures from the exhibition. Enjoy!

Well it's getting closer and closer to the exhibition in Craig Y Don for the EG and I have finally got myself into gear and got some work done. One piece framed and 3 others being done as I write. Now its time to get some more supporting material done. In the mean time here is a sneaky look at the work that will be displayed....

Well it's half term and I finally have some time to work on my embroidery things. At the North Wales Embroiderers Guild we are having a mini regional day soon and there is a competition with the theme of 'Ruby Reflections'.
I must admit this theme is very different for me and my style of work so I have struggled to start but I have started with some initial drawings and then manipulated them ready to be printed onto fabric and stitched into.
It is a very different colour scheme to my usual work so I am experimenting and seeing what works best for now. I couldn't do a project without involving my usual sea creatures so I have decided to try and incorporate coral images and images of coral cells to add some texture to the reflections. Comments welcome :)

Right, it's been far too long! lots to update: I've been teaching in Llangollen so the travelling has been taking it's toll on me and I haven't had a lot of time to be creative, also I have been very ill. Now I am on the mend and getting used to the travelling so it's time to start stitching again! I have been looking at my jellyfish prints and stitching more into them, I have been experimenting adding some collage and adding a splash of other colours to try and bring out the peacefulness and tranquility. I would appreciate any comments as I am trying to explore a few more ideas now. Thanks!
I quite like the pink in this one and how it blends it with the print, I think the print itself needs some deeper blues or maybe to be printed on a thicker fabric thats not as see through.
Not too sure about the collage although I will keep experimenting!
